Created in 1984 by executives working in the field of international banking, the International Bankers Club of Montreal became The International Finance Club of Montréal in 1992.

This modified the corporation’s objectives and enabled greater access to Club membership to include non-bankers.

The corporation’s chief objectives are :

1.Financial community promotion of the professionals activities of persons interested in international business and finance;

2. Consolidation of Montréal’s place on the international finance stage;

3. Establishment of relations with other Québec, Canadian or foreign companies or groups interested in business and international finance;

4. Encouragement of the development of new activities of a financial nature in Montréal and, consequently, increasing the volume of business here.

The Club has more than 150 members.

The Club has organised a large number of luncheon talks since 1992, where distinguished speakers have dealt with international finance.

The Club is not a substitute for existing chambers of commerce but rather plays a complementary role.  Our activities are aimed at a targeted clientele and generally interest 100 or more participants.  The Club facilitates networking and the exchange of ideas among its members.  The Club has innovated by associating with other organizations for joint activities.  This has allowed links and alliances to be formed with :

The university milieu interests us as does the diplomatic world.  We eagerly seek to develop relations with those people for the mutual benefit of our members and of our communities.  Facilitating economic alliances of all kinds is important.  Our activities have already been participated in by the United Kingdom, French, Japanese, Spanish, Mexican, Belgian, and Russian Federation, Chilean  consulates as well as the Netherlands, and Austrian consuls.
